Andrew and Amy celebrated their five year anniversary in November. Since Andrew and I have been the best of friends since we were sixteen, I wanted to give him and Amy a special gift to celebrate their years together, just as I did with my other best friend Betsy. Since portraits are what I do best, that’s what they got! (Even though they already had some lovely five year anniversary portraits taken by Jamie Delaine back in August! You can never have enough cute pictures of yourself, right?)

Since they already had portraits where they chose their outfits and locations for themselves, and because they are fun and trust me (I think), they let me completely style this mini-session for them! Love it! I even bought the dress for Amy!

I chose a fall theme for their shoot, using apples, plaid, red, green, and navy. And I found this great woodsy location!

I chose the theme for a few very specific reasons. I’ll let you all in on how my brain works when I style a shoot.

First of all, I thought of them as a couple. They fell in love and were married in the fall. I thought of items that felt like fall and apples came to mind. I also thought that apples would be reminiscent of the apple cider they gave as wedding favors.

Next the plaid is just so perfectly Andrew. It is very much his style. He is rarely seen without a plaid western-style shirt on. He must have a hundred.

They also aren’t so much dress-up type of people. So I thought a wooded plaid theme would fit with their cute, easy, casual style.

My choice of color tones, was meant to compliment their skin tones. They both have the perfect skin tones for these lovely dark shades of primary and secondary colors. The dark red and green both really bring out the pink in Amy’s skin tone. They give her a lovely rosy glow, don’t you think?

And Andrew looks perfectly handsome in red.

Aren’t they adorable?

Thanks for playing along with my fun fall theme shoot Amy & Andrew! Love you guys! Happy Belated Anniversary!
