What to Wear: Spring Sessions

The bees are buzzing and the birds are chirping, which means that springtime is here! Here are some suggestions on what to wear for warm, spring sessions.

Since spring is a season which is bright and colorful, it is only right to match that cheerful feeling with what you’re wearing. If you don’t like bright colors or don’t like to wear them, pastel colors are a nice alternative. Although, be sure not to mix the brights and pastels and try and keep the outfits consistent with a color palette in mind. In other words, have a key color for the outfits and use another color to complement that one. For example, if you are using blue as your key color, you may want to choose white, cream or grey to compliment the blues.

I had a blast shooting this little actress! She was beyond amazing! I just know she’ll do something huge. Literally every frame I shot was a different expression, from sassy to goofy to dramatic! She was full of energy and really made me work. In the middle I just stopped and had her jump for me (some of my favorite shots) just to wear her out a little and hold still for me. It mostly worked!

I’m on Maternity Leave!

Well, it’s 10 days until my due date, and although my little boy hasn’t arrived yet, I had planned to start my leave almost two weeks ago! But I’ve finally caught up on everything I needed to get done, so I’m officially beginning leave now!

Don’t worry if you’re still waiting on your products from me or want to get in touch to book a shoot when I return, I’ve got you covered! My intern, Tessa, will be on top of all of that and more while I’m spending time with my new little boy. I’ll be checking email and voicemail sporadically and Tessa will be getting in touch with all of you for me. So feel free to call & write and we’ll get back to you as quickly as possible!

My Maternity Portraits by Modern Love Photography

Earlier this month, my little family packed our bags for a road trip from L.A. to the Bay Area to have my friend Denise of Modern Love Photography shoot my Maternity Portraits. As a photographer, I’m very, very picky about who I trust to photograph me, especially for something like Maternity portraits which takes some serious skills to pose and flatter a woman. Having seen some of Denise’s recent Maternity work, I knew she was the photographer for me.

And boy was I ever right! Not only did I have a great time with Denise and her team, but I am IN LOVE with my images! They are really just so gorgeous. I feel so, so beautiful at a time when I’m feeling far more uncomfortable than attractive.

Thank you so much Denise! You are amazing! If you are in the Bay Area and want some beautiful portraits give Denise a call!

I loved shooting the Beckers! It was one of those perfect sessions where the location is great, the light is just right, and the clients are so much fun to be with! These two kids were seriously cute, smart & funny. I wish all my sessions were like this!

Cherry Blossom Baby

I found them! I meant to post these earlier today to welcome the first day of Spring, but couldn’t find them on my hard drive.

A few weeks ago my little family traveled up to the Bay Area to have my friend Denise of Modern Love Photography, shoot my maternity portraits (I’ll be sharing those next week). On the drive up I noticed that all the cherry blossoms had bloomed and lined the freeway for most of the drive. So I made sure to stop on the way back home a little before sunset to get some shots of my little girl in the orchards.

Welcome Spring! I’m so glad it’s finally here!

Tessa is my new intern. She’s a photography student at a local college and has been such a great help to me! She’s been managing several of my big, long-term projects.
